Kandil Simit

Ingredients

  • 125 g of margarine
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  • 1/3 tablespoon of mahaleb
  • 1 egg (yolk for dough and white for top)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • Flour (as needed, about 2 1/2 – 3 cups)
  • 50 g of sesame seeds

Kandil Simit Recipe

  1. Mix margarine, oil, yogurt, mahaleb, 1 egg yolk, salt, sugar and baking powder together in a pot.
  2. Add in sieved flour until the dough is soft but not sticky. Cover and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Divide the dough into golf-ball sized pieces, and form into rings. Dredge the dough in egg white and cover with sesame.
  4. Set onto a tray and cook in an oven on medium heat.
