Yogurt Dessert

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1.5 cups of yogurt
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 cup of semolina
  • 1/3 cup of oil
  • 1/3 cup of lemon juice
  • 1/2 a lemon peel (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder

For Syrup

  • 3.5 cups of sugar
  • Juice from 1/4 a lemon

Yogurt Dessert Recipe

  1. Boil 3.5 cups of sugar with 4 cups of water and mix until the sugar dissolves. Add juice from 1/4 of a lemon, and cover. Boil for 10 more minutes and remove from heat.
  2. Seperate the yolks and egg whites into seperate bowls. Add 1 cup of sugar and grated lemon peels to the yolks, and mix until the sugar dissolves. Add yogurt and mix everything together.
  3. Sieve flour and baking powder mixture over semolina and mix together.
  4. Whisk egg whites. Add egg yolk, sugar and yogurt mixture, and semolina, baking powder and flour mixture. Lastly, add in oil and lemon juice and stir gently.
  5. Pour onto a greased tray (30cm in diameter) and spread out. Cook in an oven on medium heat for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and immediately pour sauce over the dessert with a ladle by the spoonful. Cover to let the sauce absorb into the dessert. Let cool, then slice and serve.
