Lentil Balls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of red lentils
  • 1 1/2 cup of fine bulgur
  • 3-4 onions
  • 1 1/2 cups of oil
  • 1 tablespoon of tomato-pepper paste mixture
  • 5-6 scallions
  • 1/2 a bunch of parsley
  • 1/2 a bunch of dill
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of red pepper

Lentil balls recipe

  1. Wash lentils and boil them in 3-4 cups of water until they are soft and the water has evaporated. Remove from heat, add bulgur and stir. Cover and let sit for half an hour while the bulgur absorbs water and the mixture cools.
  2. Wash and dice onions, parsley and dill.
  3. Saute diced onions until they turn light yellow. Add tomato paste and stir. Add mixture to the lentils and bulgur. Add in salt, black pepper, cinnamon, and red pepper, and knead.
  4. Lastly add in scallions and dill. Divide mixture into small pieces and press using hands.
  5. Place on a serving plate and garnish with salad and pickles.
